Welcome to Authentic You Psychology Group

A practice dedicated to supporting people to improve their mental health, and lead healthier and happier lives in an authentic, meaningful, and lasting way.

We’re going to have real conversations with each other.
You’re going to learn things about yourself.
We’re going to discover together how to make meaningful and lasting positive changes in your life.
It’s going to get rough at times, but anything worth doing usually does.

You’re in the right place for mental health support that is deeply grounded in empathy, understanding, and a holistic approach that looks at all the angles, not just the obvious one

Together, we’re going to set you on a path towards getting the mental health support you need and unearthing the authentic you.

No. However, if you have a referral from your GP (with a MHTP), you can access the Medicare rebate of $145.25 per session, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

You may be able to access funding through other sources. Please see the Fees section for further information.

Finding the right psychologist for you can sometimes be a trial-and-error process.

We each have unique personalities, and so we do not always click with each other. Trust your instincts, and if the fit still doesn’t feel right after a few sessions, it is better to switch to someone else you do feel comfortable with.

Some things to consider when selecting a psychologist:

  • Ensure that the psychologist you select is registered with AHPRA
  • Ensure you choose a psychologist whose areas of expertise align with what you're struggling with.
  • Search for a non-judgemental psychologist that you feel comfortable enough with to discuss even the most sensitive and difficult topics.
  • Consider whether the fees and cancellation policy aligns with your means and situation.
  • Consider whether the practice location and hours of operation are accessible and suitable for your needs.

You can peruse this website to learn more about me, which may help you decide whether I am the right fit for you.

I encourage new clients to utilise my free 15-minute phone consultation. This is a good opportunity for us to briefly discuss your concerns and get a sense of each other. This may help you decide whether this could be a good fit for you.

If, for any reason, I am not the best person to help you, I would be more than happy to direct you to other support options available to you.

  • Please complete the necessary intake forms that will be provided to you prior to your first appointment

Although there is a breadth of information available online about different therapies, I find the APS Literature Review on Evidence-Based Psychological Interventions in the Treatment of Mental Disorders to be a comprehensive and reliable overview of most therapeutic interventions.

There are many ways to get the most out of your psychology sessions.

These include:

  • Ensuring minimal distractions (relating to work, family and/or technology) during your session. This is particularly important during Telehealth or phone appointments.
  • Engaging actively and openly allows for a collaborative approach, which assists towards the most efficient and successful therapeutic outcomes.
  • Make notes for yourself during and after your session.
  • Opt to do some “homework” in between sessions, as discussed with your psychologist. This will help you practice the tools and skills discussed in appointments.
  • Journalling whilst in therapy can also be a helpful aide.

Unfortunately, I only currently offer Telehealth services. I am happy to answer any questions you have about the Telehealth services I provide.
